I launched Nested Heart Counselling in 2013 in response to a call from the local polyamorous community saying how challenging it was to find mental health support that didn’t require further education about unconventional identities. It’s always been important to me to shout my acceptance for unconventionality from the rooftops, rather than hope word would travel underground. Even with this philosophy, it took me some time to proudly display my body modifications, yet clients tell me all the time that it’s part of the reason they show up in the first place! It would be hypocritical of me to encourage you to live authentically and not take those brave steps myself. I have been thrilled to realize that I’m not the only one who wants to bring this ethos to their practice and I’ve gathered similarly passionate colleagues together for you to browse on this website. Relationship is a huge part of counselling going well, so take your time to find the right fit and let me know if you’d like to be matched. I wish you the best on your healing journey and am so grateful for your trust.
My therapeutic passions align with my lived experiences and education around attachment, relationships, sex/sexuality, and grief. I know first hand that how our brains and bodies process the world affects how we explore and execute attachment. These experiences have led me to investigate the science behind regulation and co-regulation, which is learning that I’m keen to share with my clients.
My practice focuses on the intersections between and around sex, drugs and death. In our families, relationships, culture, and society these topics are frequently met with silencing or shame. You’re invited to offer yourself the space and time to explore how desire and connection, grieving and loss, shame and authenticity show up for you, and how you’d like them to be more integrated.
I, like many of us, have been told my emotions were too intense and I’ve found myself unable to articulate my own perspective. Instead, I would take on the perspective of others in my life who I didn’t want to disappoint and I would lose my own voice. You might be told you are ‘too much’ or ‘not enough’ as we try to be both true to ourselves, while doing what others expect of us. Let’s make a space where you can explore the emotions that live below the surface of the systemic behaviours you’ve learned so far to put others at ease. I won’t hold your previous social convictions against you as I believe that we are allowed to change our minds about how we would like to present ourselves to the world and how we tell the stories of our past.
All of our counsellors offer a free consultation so that you can see if we’re a good fit. Please fill out the contact form to set up a time to connect.
Many extended medical programs will cover a portion of your visit to an RSW.
We are not able to bill directly, but we will always provide you with a receipt after each session showing your payment that you can submit for reimbursement if you have coverage.
We enjoy browsing the internet for articles our clients may find relevant. If you’re not ready to begin therapy, you can follow our Facebook page or Instagram to keep in touch!
